About

As stated in our Mission–The San Ramon Valley Thunderbirds Football and Cheer programs exist “For the Kids”. We create an environment that allows youth participants to learn football and spirit leading skills, practice good sportsmanship as part of a competitive team, build individual character and self-esteem, while having FUN and being a part of ”T-Bird Pride“.

Our board of directors, coaching staff, participants and families are expected to demonstrate this both on and off the field.

Participants in our Football & Cheer program live primarily in  Alamo, Blackhawk, Danville, Diablo and areas of San Ramon.  We accept applicants from surrounding communities.

The T-Birds are a founding member of the Diablo Valley Youth Football Conference.  The DVYFC exists to set the basic framework for the League.  The DVYFC is one of the premier youth football conferences in the Bay Area.  It promotes high standards in both football and cheer.  There are 18 cities that make-up the conference.

We typically field 5 football and cheer squads, made-up of youth participants grouped by age and weight as guided by the DVYFC rules.  All participation guidelines are set forth by the conference.  The maximum size of our football squads is limited to 35 players. Tryouts and evaluation by our coaching staff determines the final team rosters. In most cases we must cut potential players to meet these limitations.  Our cheer squads are also determined by a tryout process.

Football and Cheer practices begin in August and continue through the season until late November.  Practices are typically held at Monte Vista High School and our home games are played at San Ramon Valley High School.

All participants and parents are required to sign a “Code of Conduct” which serves the purpose of outlining requirements and expectations of the T-Birds.  Participants must maintain a minimum grade-point average and are encouraged to strive to obtain various “Scholar Athlete” awards set forth by the T-Birds and the conference.

In summary, our goals for both football and cheer are to prepare participants for the standards of high school participation.  This is a team sport which requires athletic endurance, strength, discipline, and hard work.  We focus on helping our participants to achieve the highest standards of being both a student and an athlete. Success will continue the long-standing tradition of “T-Bird Pride”.
